ET Instrument Science Board Welcome page
Welcome to the ISB!
This page contains some basic information for anyone interested in participating and contributing to the Einstein Telescope Instrument Science Board's activities.
The mandate and objectives of the ISB are briefly described in
Mandate of the ISB.
The activity of the ISB is organized in
Working Groups, grouped by affinity in
Divisions. The organization of the ISB with the list of Divisions and Working Groups can be found at
Organization and Contacts.
Finally, some practical information (mailing lists and tools for collaborating) can be found at
Practical information and collaborative tools.
How to join ET instrument science
If you are interested in contributing, we ask you to identify the working group (or working groups) you are interested in and to get in touch with the relevant WP chairs and Division chairs.
Mandate of the ISB
The first objective of the team is to deliver the ET Technical Design Report (ET-TDR) of the detectors starting from the ET Conceptual Design Report (ET-CDR).
The second objective of the whole team is to identify the missing technologies and suggest a plan for R&D activities. This must be a living plan, regularly updated.

Mailing lists
You can subscribe at the following mailing lists (click on the link and follow the instructions)
EGO Active Directory
- If you don’t have an EGO Active Directory account yet, please apply through: https://www.ego-gw.it/UserProfile/accountrequest.aspx
This is your general account needed for all services.
- If you already have an EGO Active Directory, you will still need to request an account, using your existing login, for the Einstein Telescope Collaboration.
ET Wiki
- We are going to organise and structure most information through the ET wiki at https://wiki.et-gw.eu
You can access the Wiki through your EGO account.
Gitlab
Gitlab is an environment mainly for code development, but can be used for general project management as well.
Mattermost
Along with Gitlab comes Mattermost as a communication tool.
- You may download a client from: https://mattermost.com/download/
- In the client, you need to set up the ET server name https://mattermost.et-gw.eu and login using the Gitlab button.
- You should then see the structure of communication channels corresponding to your sub-groups in Gitlab (after you have assigned your membership following your first login to Gitlab).
